Jan does a wonderful job with this book! It is VERY popular and I bought it without totally acknowledging that it was Historically Based. But it was my first experience with the Historical Amish Fiction, and I was pleased with how Jan outdid herself. It is not exactly my cup of tea, but it was a wonderful story of love and heart warming emotions. You certainly will not regret trying out this book!! Happy reading!

Jan does a great job of developing the characters in this story. It creates a strong reality of not only Hannah's choice but many of the characters. Plan time toward the end, hard to put down.
This is my first book by Jan and while her facts are wonderful her story didn't flow. It's choppy characters and they have little personality. No depth to them. The story is engaging and depressing. But Jan has many great facts and history that fills her pages. I wish her much success.
I loved the interaction between the family members and neighbors. I liked the style of writing. I did not want to put the book down and was eager to read late into the night. Now I am ready to start reading the next book!
SO enjoyed Jan Drexler's book. I LOVE her writing style, and have NEVER been disappointed with her books. I can't seem to find them quick enough, and then they are very hard for me to put down....and then, each time I finish, I am wishing that the story would be continued in another book that I could immediately read! Please keep them coming, Jan!
To preserve his families Amish heritage the Daed decided to.move his family to Indiana. Leaving the generational home is hard for the family. A story well researched embellished to tell the author tells the story of her ancestors. A good read.
I truly enjoyed reading this book. A good variety of characters. Throughout the book you had different ideas about who Hannah should choose and I ended up liking her choice. It held my interest from start to end. The family had been through a lot, but with God's help they made it through all of their challenges. A very nice book to read and feel good about.
My mother-in-law is 91 years old and has read this as well as myself, and we both very much enjoyed this book by Jan Drexler. It was like being in Hannah's house and hearing and seeing everything that was going on. It gave great insight into how the Amish actually live and shows the world as they see it. I zipped right through this book and would not hesitate to read any other books by Ms Drexler.
